GRANT WRITING

THE PROCESS

RESEARCH & IDENTIFY GRANTS

The grant writing process, like any RFP process, begins with research and identifying targets. It is critical to research all funding opportunities to find the most suitable opportunities to submit. We look for prospects matching your target populations and programs.

WE KNOW WHERE AND HOW TO LOOK

TELL YOUR STORY

Following the research stage, we begin writing and editing. In this stage, you must thoroughly review the funder's application and requirements so that you have all the necessary responses, attachments, and materials to complete the application. Now you must “tell the story”. You need to compel the reader, the board, the program manager, to fund your mission over all others. This means you must catch their attention, concisely explain your goals and objectives, and demonstrate your previous success while reviewing your upcoming plans.

WE KNOW HOW TO MAKE YOUR STORY COMPELLING & BRING IT TO LIFE

Once the application is written, edited and revised, we submit the application to the funder by their deadlines. Follow-up to their decision will take place depending on the timeline provided.

SECURE GRANT, FULFILL, MANAGE & REPORT

If your organization is awarded the grant, you will begin executing your grant program while we can assist in maintaining all grant reporting duties. It is best to maintain a great relationship with the funder during the grant period and after.

Know yourself, keep true to your mission, trust us,

THE FUNDING IS THERE.

Funders tend to award future grants to organizations that have a proven track record with them.

If you were not awarded the grant, always request feedback to understand what did not align with their expectations and use the feedback to restart the grant process. You are more knowledgeable and prepared for this future funding opportunity and others. Unfortunately, many funders will not fund a new organization on their first submission.

It is a numbers game, but the quality of each submission is very important. Each grant takes time and you do not want to spend money on submissions that are not aligned with your mission. We do not believe in “chasing the money”. Find opportunities that fit with your current programs or strategic plan so that the funding that arrives is exactly what you need, and you are not creating new tasks or even full offerings just to meet a foundation’s metrics.

WHY CONSIDER A HIGHLY EXPERIENCED GRANT WRITER

We are single mindedly focused on your return on the investment and trust you place on us.

Most non-profits do not have the funding for a full-time writer on staff, therefore grant writing is an “afterthought” or something that is done when there is not any other more pressing work to do.

This leaves non-profits with few opportunities for significant funding and virtually never lets a non-profit build those very important foundation and corporation relationships that are crucial for long-term sustainability.

Since there are not any “writers” on staff, no one may have the expertise to know where to look for funding that fits, how to vet the opportunities once located, and what approach to use when writing.

WE ARE CONSTANTLY IN THE MARKET DOING THIS FOR YOU AND OTHERS
"We contacted Leslie and her team as we simply were running out of funding. As a new non-profit, we had simply exhausted all of our personal contacts and typical credit line and loan options - we needed something more. Although I thought we were just going to work on a couple of grants together, it turned into much more. Prosper not only wrote many grants that were awarded but they helped develop an entire program line that is revenue generating and does NOT require fundraising to sustain itself.

They made the grant process easy and after receiving the funding, they stuck with us to make sure we could fulfill the grant requirements so we ideally increase our ask to these funders.

I highly recommend Leslie and Gray to help bring in funding.

They are worth every penny and more."

When you hire Prosper, your organization gets all that and more. Your chances for success multiply when we are on your side.

WE TURN OVER ALL THE ROCKS FOR YOU TO FIND YOU FUNDING
"I was confident in my staff's grant writing abilities; however, we felt lost in the research and management stages of our grant process. Leslie and her Prosper team were able to come in and offer us personalized solutions as they focused solely on executing our grant research and developing for us new grant management procedures. This allowed our skilled staff to focus on the writing as Prosper handled all the behind the scenes work from finding us countless compatible funding opportunities to coaching us through the intricate details on all our grant applications."

- Beatrice, Executive Director, Health & Wellness Non-Profit Organization

WHY SHOULD YOU WORK WITH PROSPER?

Prosper has one key distinct advantage over most all of the competition - Leslie has worked in almost every non-profit department that exists and specializes in both program and fund development.

  • We understand the process.

  • We have over 20 years of experience.

  • Our track record speaks for itself – over $3 million raised for non-profits in the last ten years.

  • With our knowledge – we are up and running as your team members in a couple of days.

  • We have departmental, organizational, and global visioning – we can help position you ahead of the other grant seekers and prepare you to move to the next level of funding.

  • Story telling is our specialty – we can communicate your mission in a way that funders not only understand but are compelled to support.

"Our Advancement Team never seems to get around to making time for grant writing. There is always an event, a donor meeting, an online campaign, etc. We simply do  not have the bandwidth to sit down and write a 10-hour proposal. Due to our lack of time and our inexperience with the grant process, that 10-hour process would probably take us 29 hours anyhow. We needed outside help - that decision was simple. Selecting a grant writer was not. There are so many people that “write grants”.

While there are a lot of grant writers, there simply aren’t many or any out there that truly understand the workings of a nonprofit like Leslie’s team. They know the questions to ask to get the information quickly and then they are off and running. They don’t need hours and hours of management that my team does not have. An initial meeting, a questionnaire, and email and text exchanges over a three-week period and we had three submissions.

We won two of three and suddenly we had $55,000 in the door. Thanks Prosper -you’re now part of our team and you are so worth it."

- Mary, Associate Director, Non-Profit Organization for Families with Special Needs

"Our organization needed serious stabilization for our grants process - therefore, we hired Leslie and Prosper's services to run our entire grant department as her abilities came highly recommended. $400,000 and counting in awarded grants later, I can confidently say that her and her team redefined the trajectory of our entire organization. They were able to not only secure us high value government grants, but also focused on local, small-scale foundation grants to foster greater community relations and program development. From research & writing to award management & reporting, they excelled at all aspects."
